LessonRelay is operated by Guangen Lin, a sole proprietor doing business as LessonRelay ("LessonRelay," "we," "us," or "our"). LessonRelay provides an AI-assisted tool for independent music teachers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Teacher account information, including your email address for account creation and login.
• Teacher profile information, such as your name and studio details.
• Student profile information, such as student nickname or name, age band, instrument, level, current material, goals, communication mode, and optional recipient email.
• Lesson captures and lesson notes you enter into LessonRelay.
• Private lesson records, practice plans, parent or student updates, next-lesson briefs, and monthly progress summaries.
• Teacher edits, generated versions and final versions.
• Usage and billing status.
• Content entered through the demo, even without an account. Demo notes may be stored for product quality review and abuse prevention; please do not enter full student names or sensitive personal information in demo notes.

Information collected automatically:

• Basic usage data (such as pages visited and features used).
• Device and browser information.
• IP address.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate teacher-reviewed lesson follow-up drafts and monthly progress summaries.
• To save your lesson records and student history.
• To process your payments.
• To improve the product and fix issues.
• To communicate with you about your account or our service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate LessonRelay:

• Supabase: Database hosting and user authentication.
• AI provider via OpenRouter: processes teacher-entered lesson captures and relevant student context to generate teacher-reviewed lesson follow-up drafts and monthly progress summaries. Your lesson content is sent to the AI provider for generation. We do not use your content to train AI models.
• Payment providers (Paddle or Creem): Payment processing. The provider identified at checkout receives your payment information directly; we do not store your credit card details.
• Meta Pixel (if enabled): Anonymous analytics for advertising measurement. No personal student data is shared with Meta.

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

4. Students and Minors

LessonRelay is a tool for teachers, not for students or parents directly. Teachers enter information about their students as part of documenting lessons.

If your students are minors, please limit the information you enter to what is directly relevant to music instruction. Do not enter sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, home addresses, medical diagnoses or health conditions, or financial details.

LessonRelay separates teacher-only private lesson records from parent or student-facing content. Teachers are responsible for reviewing content before copying, printing, exporting, or sharing it.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us.

5. No Automated Decision-Making

LessonRelay does not make automated decisions about students or other people. It does not score, rank, diagnose, classify, categorize, or determine eligibility, ability, outcomes, or treatment for students.

AI-assisted outputs are drafts based on teacher-entered lesson notes and teacher-confirmed records. Teachers review, edit, approve, or discard the drafts before using them.

6. No Likeness, Voice, or Deepfake Generation

LessonRelay does not generate images, human-like faces, videos, face swaps, deepfakes, voice impersonations, or content using a person's likeness. EA 1.0 is text-first and does not include voice recording.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Your saved lesson records remain available to you as described in our Terms of Service.

If you request deletion of your account and data, we will process your request within 30 days, subject to any legal retention requirements.

8. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

• Access your data by logging into your account.
• Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
• Request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.
• Opt out of marketing emails (if any) by using the unsubscribe link.

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws.

10. International Data

LessonRelay is hosted in the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through the service.
